This week the school hall became an engineering workshop, with hands-on learning at ever turn.
The aims of the week included:
- Encouraging children to explore the fun world of engineering;
- Generating interest and enthusiasm for engineering in their everyday lives and play;
- Inspiring young people to explore engineering as a career and
- Highlighting the diverse opportunities engineering offers.
Every child in the school explored the materials and had great fun building tunnels, dens, arches, towers, skyscrapers and even roller-coasters. They also learned much about engineering by constructing bridges from a variety of materials including Lego, Knex and Duplo. The children worked very effectively in teams with older pupils often guiding and helping the younger pupils.
Well done to Ms Healy, Ms Dalton and all the Class Teachers for the great work and planning which has gone into making Engineering Week in Scoil Mhuire such and enjoyable success for everyone involved.
