5th and 6th class recently recorded the distance and direction from Knockavilla NS to places around the globe. They used detailed cardinal points for the directions and calculated the distances involved by using the scale in their atlases. They then compared their estimates/answers for the distances involved to those on Google!
Both classes also enjoyed measuring the distance from the front door of the school to their classroom using paper metre sticks in groups. Thankfully all groups agreed on the correct distance while the direction of same was more straightforward!
