We welcomed everyone back to Room 2 for a new year and lots of new activities. The weather has turned chilly and so we took the opportunity to learn all about the Arctic and the animals that live there, the Antartic and the adventures of Tom Crean and the types of homes we can find in these places.
In Senior infants we focused a lot on our tricky words and in First class we tried to work on our handwriting and on lengthening our sentences. D'fhoghaimear faoin gCochailín Dearg agus faoin Tornapa Mhór. We loved reading this month. We read big books and fairytales. We took part in peer reading we reported on stories as well as reading our own written work and listening to stories on CD. We also explored these stories through musical and dramatic activities. In music the class was very proud to learn ‘Ireland’s Call’ and we went on a stroll through the woods. Next month we look forward to learning all about springtime. The children have their fingers crossed for a snowy day too we're sure 😊
