January in Senior Infants
Senior Infants have become intrepid explorers and have been busy learning about Antarctica. The children really enjoyed learning about the animals who live in this region. They have learned about how these animals survive in such extreme weather conditions and we investigated with fat to show how a layer of blubber helps keep them warm in the ice cold water.
Senior Infants also did lots of oral work discussing and learning new vocabulary related to the dentist (eg, dental surgery, reception, receptionist, waiting room, dental nurse, appointment, symptoms, brushing, flossing, treatment, examination chair, injection). From this, we set up our Dental Surgery role-play area which included a waiting room, reception, dentist chair and an x-ray area.
