March in Seomra a Dó

4th Apr 2019

With the beautiful weather this March, we were full of energy in Room 2 and ready for action. All the children were great at learning the steps of the 'Walls Of Limerick' and we sang our Irish songs with gusto at the St Patrick’s Day get-together in the Halla. We studied our patron Saint, Patrick - about his early life and his journeys around Europe, which brought him back to Ireland. We said his special prayer and we sang songs about him. D'éisteamar le scéaltaí mar gheall ar Lá'le Pádraig agus d’fhéachamar ar phictiúir de pharáid éagsula. The rest of First Class joined us for some Leprechaun art with paper, wool, pompoms, crepe paper and googly eyes.

Freddy the Teddy has come to visit our class from Australia. He has been to visit all the lovely children in their houses and has been on some great adventures around the parish. He is one lucky bear!!

We have learned about our bodies and how they work in science, and all about our feelings and the feelings of others in SPHE. In Maths we spent our mornings measuring the weight of objects and comparing and ordering objects based on their weight. First Class began their work on subtraction and Senior Infants finished their analysis of the number 10.

There was so much fun regaling the tale of Goldilocks and the Three Bears in song, story, art, drama agus rannta breá bríomhar.  The room resounded with the sound of percussion instruments, bear noises, children's voices and some jolly keyboard-playing. We will definitely have earned our Easter Break when it comes in a few weeks time.
