Music and song in Scoil Mhuire
Well done to pupils who took part in the recent West Scór na nÓg competition. Our 6th class quiz team - Cian, Dominic, Lily and Conor, represented themselves well in a very tough competition. We had two 2nd class pupils, Áine and Saibh, performing in the Rince - a great experience for both girls dancing on a stage in front of a live audience. The girls were joined by Oran to compete in the Uirlisí Ceoil and our trio of tin whistlers received great comments from the judges. A group of 4th class pupils - Frankie, Leah, Michael, Thomas T and Sophia sang An Spailpín Fánach in the Grúpa Bailéid. They impressed the judges very much with their beautiful sound and their amhrán as Gaeilge. They were placed 2nd on the night - a fantastic achievement for their first time performing as a group on stage.
Thanks to funding from the Parents Association, we recently purchased a set of ukuleles. All our pupils are enjoying the chance to learn this very accessible instrument and we expect it may be on a few Christmas lists this year. Treasa from Music Generation is helping us out and giving our pupils and staff a fantastic introduction to this instrument. Huge thanks to the Parents Association committee for sourcing this funding in order to provide these instruments free of charge to our pupils.
