November in Seomra a Dó!
November was a busy month in Seomra a Dó.
We began the month marking All Soul's Day and created a flower for our Garden of Remembrance to remember loved ones who have passed away. We enjoyed creating mittens using tissue paper in line with the colder weather we are experiencing.
For Science week we carried out lots of fun experiments! We submerged gummy bears in water, vinegar and salty water overnight. We were amazed to see the effects the following morning with a significant increase in bear size! We constructed bridges using different materials and tested which bridge was strongest for the Billy Goats to cross. We enjoyed observing all the colours of the rainbow during our skittles experiment.
This month's 'Puzzle Friday' was spent using a variety of materials to create shape pictures and tangrams. We used matchsticks, 2-D shapes, lollipop sticks and straws in our work. We followed up this work by drawing our own shape picture at home and then uploaded it to our Class Dojo portfolio. Well done everybody!
This week Dublin Zoo came to our classroom! We enjoyed a very informative interactive Zoom call with Dublin Zoo and learnt all about elephants, lions, snow leopards and many more!
The end of the month marked the beginning of Advent. We traced around our hands and cut them out to create an Advent wreath. We will be making a special effort to be kind to others for the duration of Advent and thereafter.
Well done to all in Seomra a dó!
