Playground games

10th Oct 2018

This year we have extended our hugely popular Playground Games Initiative to include our new Junior Infants.  The pupils in 3rd and 4th Class prepare two games each week to share with the Junior Infant pupils. The classes meet twice per week to play the games together. The 3rd and 4th Class pupils explain the games and point out the safety aspects relating to each game.  Each week we have one running game and one movement game.  The children are encouraged to play these games in the yard at play time.

The pupils in 5th and 6th Classes have also been revising the games with Senior Infants, 1st and 2nd Class. This Initiative helps to keep our pupils active in the yard at play time and is a sociable way to meet new friends and play with other children.

The games can also be played outside of school, as they require no equipment.  It has proven to be very successful in previous years, and we can already see the enthusiasm and fun enjoyed by our new Junior Infants this term
