Chuaigh Rang a Ceathair ar turas scoile go Caiseal i mí Meitheamh.
Our first stop was Hore Abbey where we explored this wonderful old site and looked at the old gravestones and features here. It is also an ideal spot for a game of Hide and Seek.
We walked across to the Rock of Cashel and accessed it by the beautifully redone pathway connecting the Camas Rd to the Rock. We were blessed with the day and stopped for a snack on our way.
At the Rock we met with Mrs Ryan, a native of Cashel and an expert on this ancient monastic site. She walked us through the different buildings and pointed out lots of interesting features. She gave us a vast amount of insight into what life was like back in the 1800s at the Rock.
We enjoyed a picnic lunch in the grounds of the castle before rounding off the day with a trip to Grogan's Ice-cream Parlour - an essential part of a day out in Cashel.
The children agreed it was one of the best tours ever, and right on our doorstep.
