Reading for Fun
Junior Infants and Third & Fourth Classes have completed their ‘Reading for Fun’ sessions. The Junior Infant pupils were paired with a different pupil from 3rd or 4th class each week during Term 2. Initially, the older children read the story, chatting with their ‘Junior Buddy’ about the pictures and asking them to predict what might happen next. As the weeks went on, the Junior Infants were encouraged to read along, pointing out words they knew and finding their 'tricky words' within the stories. Along with the stories, the pupils took the opportunity to chat about different things going on in their classrooms and about various activities they were involved in outside of school.
It is hoped for the final term of the year to return to the Playground Games initiative which we had begun in Term 1. We anticipate this will be very enjoyable as we look forward to some nice sunny weather.
