Return to School Information
31st Aug 2021
We are really excited about seeing all our pupils back in Scoil Mhuire. We are particularly looking forward to welcoming our new Junior Infant Class of 2021/2022 and wish them and their parents a happy and safe start in their school life.
The following are some tips, advice and reminders ahead of the start tomorrow.
- Please complete the Return to School form through the link on the home page of the website BEFORE your child comes to school on Wednesday, if you haven't already done so. You will also be required to submit this form following any absence from school.
- You should refer to the guide on returning to school which has been posted on the website and note the importance of keeping your child at home if they display any of the symptoms as described. We all need to work together on this to ensure our school remains open and safe for all pupils and staff.
- We remind you once again that Scoil Mhuire has a 'nut free' policy and I ask all parents and guardians to co-operate with this as it is in the interests of the health and safety of some of our pupils.
- Reminder: Indoor footwear/slippers, with a secure sole and heel, are required from 1st to 6th Class.
- The BOM has advised the wearing of face coverings from 4th - 6th Classes and continues to recommend this for the coming school year. Some of our classes are quite big this year and there will be quite a large number of pupils in some classrooms. The staff will support the pupils in these classes on appropriate use and hygiene regarding the wearing of face coverings. Your child should bring a small zip lock bag or similar pouch to store the face covering when pupils are outside.
- All children will bring their school bags and lunch bags/drinks on the first day. School bags will be kept at school for the moment and your child will only require their lunch and drink in a small, easy to carry, wipeable bag initially, as last year. We are in the process of reviewing our Homework Policy under Covid-19 guidelines and will hold the bags at school until we begin more formal homework in a few weeks time. Junior Infants will not receive homework until later in the first term. Please bear with us as we finalise the details around homework for the school year ahead and we will communicate them to you in due course.
We thank you for your co-operation in regard to the above, and look forward to a successful, safe and happy school year 2021/2022.
