On Tuesday 22nd June we walked to Cappamurra Bog from the school. We tried out using a sweep net to search for bugs and butterflies. Then we walked through the bog with Ms.Dalton and Ms. Healy.
On our adventure we spotted lots of plants that are only found on a raised bog like ours. Sphagnum moss, bell heather, lichen, heather, bog cotton and a very special plant called sundew.
We were surprised along the way by an ice-cream delivery which was very welcome on a hot day in the bog.
We finished the brilliant day by having a picnic on the bridge at the top of the bog road before walking back to school just in time to go home. It was a great adventure getting to know our local area, and our beautiful bog. We can't wait to go again soon.
