U11 Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Football Final (9/2/24)

19th Mar 2024

Scoil Mhuire KNS witnessed great drama on February 9th as their U11 panel sought victory in the Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Roinn D football final.

Having already accounted for Gortnahoe NS, Two Mile Borris NS, Moycarkey NS and Boher NS along their route to the final, our U11 panel were well prepared for battle.

Arriving in Cashel King Cormacs GAA grounds, bright and early, spirits were high in anticipation of a great contest against Killenaule NS.

The boys from Scoil Mhuire were first out of the blocks with Ted Ryan pouncing for an opportunist goal in the opening minute. However, Killenaule’s response was impressive. They quickly levelled the game and despite Aaron Kelly’s pointed free, they went on to outscore Knockavilla for the remainder of the half, leaving the halftime score: Killenaule NS 1-03, Knockavilla NS 1-01.

Scoil Mhuire regrouped at the break and really took control of the game in the second half. Halftime substitute, Eoghan Quirke, fired in two goals and a point while his brother, Brian, also goaled from the penalty spot. Aaron Kelly continued his scoring spree, adding two goals to his tally. Killenaule rallied and didn’t give in easily. However, Knockavilla NS were not to be denied and emerged victorious.

Scenes of jubilation followed the final whistle before Scoil Mhuire captain, Conor Breen, lifted the trophy to the rousing applause of our great supporters. Congrats to all involved and commiserations to Killenaule NS who can also be very proud of their performance and path to the final.
